A Prefeitura de Belo Horizonte assegurou junto ao governo federal R$ 564 milhões dentro do Programa de Aceleração do Crescimento (PAC) Seleções – que investe em áreas essenciais à saúde, educação, mobilidade, qualidade de vida e acesso a direitos. O anúncio dos recursos para a capital foi feito nesta manhã, em Brasília.
A maior parte da verba que Belo Horizonte receberá do PAC Seleções será destinada à mobilidade, que receberá R$ 317 milhões para a aquisição de cerca de 100 ônibus elétricos que serão incorporados à frota do transporte coletivo municipal.
Em setembro de 2023, a PBH lançou o Plano de Mobilidade Limpa, quando foi apresentado um projeto para a substituição de 40% da atual frota, até 2030, por ônibus com energia limpa, entre os quais ônibus elétricos. O Plano prevê a redução da emissão de carbono e alinha o município aos Objetivos do Desenvolvimento Sustentável da ONU.
Em outubro de 2023 começaram os testes com ônibus elétricos na capital. O primeiro modelo testado foi da BYD. O teste abrangeu 6 das 9 regionais do município de Belo Horizonte, especialmente a regional Centro-Sul. Em nova etapa de testes, ainda este mês, quatro empresas iniciarão novos testes para operar com elétricos em BH: Ankai Brasil, Volvo, Marcopolo e BYD.
Essas empresas foram selecionadas por meio de chamamento público para um Acordo de Cooperação Técnica, de estudos e projetos operacionais para futuras contratações e licitações. O objetivo é a inclusão de ônibus movidos a combustíveis não fósseis, de modo a contribuir com a qualidade do meio ambiente urbano e gerar maior eficiência ao sistema de transporte e conforto aos usuários.
